Wildlife Art has a website where you can take a virtual tour of five different exhibits. It is really neat! You can zoom in on the pictures or sculptures, you can double click to get more information on the artist or creation. You can move across the room, it's artist heaven! Well, now, if you have a computer you no longer have an excuse not to take them to the art gallery - virtually that is!
The website called The Teachers Guide also has a selection of links to museums and some virtual tours. Some of these links are just to photos of the museums rather than a virtual tour. Here is a virtual tour of the sun.
Take a virtual fly-by tour of Yellowstone National Park. National Geographic has many virtual tours - just enter these keywords into their page search.
What about a good look at Vincent Van Gogh's art? Take a virtual tour here, courtesy of the National Gallery of Art. "This virtual tour allows you to navigate through panoramas of the exhibition galleries. As you walk through the space, you can select specific paintings for larger image views, close-up details, and more information."
Michelangelo's paintings on the Sistine Chapel?
What about a tour INSIDE the body? This is a well run site, with movies and discussions, all the visual stuff you want!
Here is a well set up site for homeschoolers to take virtual field trips from their computers. This site links to the virtual sites while keeping their how to information in the left hand column. It gives lessons and navigation info, scavenger huts, further activities, ways to print the materials. The website is called Virtual Field Trips.com. This was the best site I found specifically for homeschoolers.
Put a timer on! Trust us, been there, done that, burnt the dinner....

Thanks for so many great links! We were lucky enough to visit the Louvre about 12 years ago. The picture of Mona Lisa was so small and then it was behind this protective glass that stuck out several feet into the room. It is much nicer to be able to see the paintings up close! And without spending the money!
